Eldonian French Link Baucher, Size 4 1/2

The baucher bit has an eggbutt-like ring at the mouthpiece for the rein and a small ring to which the cheekpieces of the bridle are attached.

This bit lies flat against the horse's face, and because of the way it attaches to the bridle, is quite fixed in the mouth. This gives it a more elevated position on the horse's tongue and concentrates pressure on the bars. The French link eliminates some of the nutcracker effect and will not be as likely to hit the palate.
